“Fawsec Campus presents an ideal case for developing public space strategies that have been investigated by AGi Architects in the last few years for Kuwait and the MENA region. As a result of the extreme climate conditions and conflicting cultural reservations regarding the notion and the use of public spaces, the design of public spaces is a challenging and controversial concept to work with. In light of the challenges faced, we worked to design a mid-rise building where a dense development would provide the best thermal conditions for the apartments and the exterior shaded areas. These buildings are modelled using playful volumetric variations introducing an urban scale to the complex on the exterior, and a sense of community inside.”
